CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Scioto Lodge #6, Free & Accepted Masons, will hold its annual fish & tenderloin fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 11 at the Lions Shelter in Yoctangee Park. Profits from the event help support the lodge’s scholarship program and it has not been held since 2019 due to the pandemic. Dinners are $8 and sandwiches are $4. Soft drinks are available for purchase.
This year’s three, $1,000 scholarships went to members of the Chillicothe High School Class of 2021.
One of the winners, Nicholas Cunningham, was described by a teacher as a “dream student,” and he has been accepted at Ohio University where he will study biology. He told lodge members he has dreams of studying medicine.
Abigail Lynn Pendell, another recipient, has been accepted by Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va.
A third scholarship winner, Madelyn Alice Shafer, who says she began her education at Bishop Flaget School and finished it at CHS, has been accepted at Ohio University. She will study biology in hopes of entering medical school.
