Bessie Louise Evans, 82 of Otway went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 14, 2021 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born on February 25, 1939 in Otway to the late Charles Eichenlaub and Daisy Means Eichenlaub. On December 18, 1957 she was united in marriage to Robert Evans who preceded her in death on December 6, 1971. Surviving are one son; Joshua (Andrea) Weakley of Gallipolis; seven daughters, Judy (Tim) Phipps of Lucasville, Sharon Pertuset-Evans of Lucasville, Juliann “Annie” McClary of Otway, Cathy (David) Lute of West Portsmouth, Teressa (George) Vastine of Wheelersburg, Donna Vastine of West Portsmouth and Amy (Brad) Burchett of McDermott; 18 incredible grandchildren; 25 amazing great grandchildren; 7 marvelous great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Alex Eichenlaub of Cincinnati and Robert Eichenlaub of Cincinnati and one sister, Helen (Don) Stiltner of Wheelersburg. In addition to her husband and her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by three brothers; William Eichenlaub, Gilbert Eichenlaub and Homer Davis; one sister, Oma Stiltner; two sons-in-law, Gary McClary and Donald W Pertuset; and her last love from 1978 to 1994, Curtis Weakley.
Bessie was a homemaker and attended Lombardsville Church. She volunteered in her community for many years at Born Again. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother to her family.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Pastor David Lute officiating and Pastor George Vastine singing. Burial will follow in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
