Nellie Mae Adams, age 81 of Hillsboro passed away Thursday morning June 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born April 13, 1940 in Felicity, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Hattie (Ramsey) Berry. She was a member of the South Side Praise and Worship Center in Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Eagles Aerie #1161 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a devoted and loving wife mother and grandmother. For many years she worked at the Hillsboro Eagles in the kitchen. She then retired to venture out traveling in Tennessee with her husband. She was such a strong woman and did an amazing job of instilling that strength into her five loving daughters. She also passed on so much more to her girls and her grandchildren, such as her love of life, laughter, great sense of humor and her avid love of cooking and baking. She immensely loved her girls, they were her “babies”- that’s what she always called them. She didn’t think that she could love any harder until the grandchildren started coming along. She was always so tangled with them as each came along. It made her heart so full and loved each and every one of them in her own special way.
She is survived by five daughters, Phyllis (Bill) Nelson of Lynchburg, Diane (Billy) Keech of Buford, Rhonda (Don) Storer of Hillsboro, Tammy (Roger) Haines of Leesburg and Christa (Jeff) Knight of Hillsboro; thirty grandchildren; sixty-six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Jean (Tom) Kessinger of Hillsboro, Lou Rosselot of Florida and Dottie Fenton of Peebles; one brother, David Berry of New Vienna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Ronald Lloyd Adams, on December 1, 2009; a grandson Donald Adams; four great grandchildren Brandon Hostetler, Cody Allen Hostetler, Anabelle Tufano and Leland Hornschemeier.
A funeral service for Nellie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 23, 2021 at the South Side Praise and Worship Center in Hillsboro. Pastor Mike Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday June 22, 2021 at the church.
