James Leon Cumberland

James Leon Cumberland, age 59, of Chillicothe, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday June 15, 2021. He was born on December 10, 1961, in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of James H. and Eleanor (Curtis) Cumberland. James was baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro when he was a young man. He enjoyed bicycling, playing cornhole, and spending time with his family and friends. James is survived by his parents, James H. and Eleanor L (Curtis) Cumberland; six children, James Cumberland, Jr., Caleb Cumberland, Brittany (Antonio) McClaurin, Oceana Cumberland, Jalesia Cumberland, and Mariah Cumberland; three siblings, Mark E. (Peggy) Cumberland, Chad E. Cumberland, and Heather Cumberland Delagdo; his companion, April Stevens, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Orvel and Imogene (Burns) Curtis, and paternal grandparents, John and Delia (Watts) Cumberland. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday June 25, 2021, in the High Top Cemetery in Samantha, Ohio. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
