PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Four men from Pike County have been arrested in Portsmouth for an alleged theft ring.
Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said there had been numerous break-ins at local businesses, including Pendleton Truck Sales, thefts of ATVs from the Big Bear Camp Ground area, and thefts of tools from vehicles in the county in recent days.
Security cameras helped identify a possible vehicle used in the thefts, the Sheriff said, and deputies put the word out to surrounding counties to be on the lookout.
On Wednesday, the Scioto and Pike County Sheriff’s’ offices, Waverly Police, Piketon Police, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the state Fire Marshal’s Office executed multiple warrants in Pike County, including on Buchanan Road. It was there, Thoroughman said, that law enforcement found some of the stolen items from the break-ins. The locations came about after deputies in Pike County recognized the cars in the videos.
Arrested were Jeremy Thompson, 42, and Terry Sines, 27. The Sheriff said those two men talked to detectives and gave up their alleged co-burglars. That’s when deputies arrested Jeremy Hill, 41, and Brian C. Vest, 35.
All four men have been charged with multiple felonies, including theft and weapon charges.
