COLUMBUS, Ohio — Something is making the birds in Ohio sick, according to experts.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is concerned about the recent affliction affecting certain song birds in the state.
ODNR reports that blue jays, grackles, starlings, robins, and sparrows are primarily being affected by this mysterious disease. Experts with the state encourage residents to clean bird feeders and birdbaths using a 10% bleach solution. This is especially important if you have seen dead birds in your area, the state said.
The state asks the public to report online to their Wildlife Species Sighting system. ODNR says this will help state biologists track the spread of the disease. They also ask that when you report, select Bird – Diseased or Dead.
