HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — Officials in the village of Laurelville have issued a “Do Not Use Water Advisory” after reports that one of the water supply tanks in the village had been tampered with. The advisory was first announced earlier in the day on Wednesday. Since that time, Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North and village officials have said the advisory will remain in effect until officials deem the water safe.
Residents of Laurelville are asked to take containers to the water department or the fire department if they are in need of water. Officials say that bottled water is also available.
When asked what the public can do in response to this crisis, village officials said, “residents should immediately flush their cold water and hot water taps.”
If residents have any questions they are encouraged to contact Ron Stevens at the Laurelville Water Department at 740-412-8198.
This incident remains under investigation.
