ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff received dozens of telephone calls from concerned citizens around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

The Sheriff’s office said that a tornado siren around the area of County Road 550 in Union Township was malfunctioning. The siren was not the typical “wail” and was more of a “hi-lo” siren. Later on, the siren turned to a faint “busy telephone signal” sound.

County officials could not immediately confirm the cause of the malfunction but said that engineers were working to fix the problem.
