CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney announced on Monday that changes were coming to the city’s transit system.
During a regular session of Chillicothe City Council, Feeney announced that the city will be testing two pilot programs.
According to the mayor, the first of the two programs is being tested this week in Chillicothe. He described it as an “On-Demand System, similar to Uber” that will allow citizens to request rides straight from their homes or pickup location. Feeney went on to say that this program will offer a user-friendly app that is currently in development. This program was decided to be tested after the city conducted a survey of citizens.
The second pilot program will bring historical nostalgia to the downtown area for many. Feeney explained to city council that a downtown trolley will also be tested in the following weeks.
“It is our goal to be a world-class rural transit system,” said Feeney. “I believe that everyone will be excited to see what we have come up with.”
