HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — A Hocking Co. woman will spend over a decade in prison for her involvement in the death of her husband.
Gayle Piatt, 64, Hocking County, was sentenced to eleven to sixteen years in prison for the death of her husband, 72-year-old Homer Piatt, court records show.
According to the Hocking County Sheriff, Gayle Piatt walked into the Sheriff’s Office on October 18 and told deputies that she had shot her husband to put him out of his misery. Detectives went to the Piatt residence and discovered evidence that matched her story.
Piatt reportedly told Detectives that her husband had suffered from a lengthy illness and did not want him to suffer any longer.
Gayle Piatt was initially charged with aggravated murder, but according to court records, she pled guilty to the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter.
