ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — A Chillicothe man has been convicted on multiple sexual assault charges in Athens County.
According to the Athens County Prosecutor, Grant Sims, 25, of Chillicothe was found guilty on two counts of rape.
Court records show that Sims was indicted back in February 2020. The Athens County prosecutor went on to say, the first sexual assault took place in October 2018. Reports say Sims met his first female victim at a bar. The victim stated that Sims then took her to his residence and raped her in his driveway.
The Athens County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the second rape took place in May 2019. According to the victim, Sims would not allow the woman to leave. That is when according to reports, Sims forced himself upon her.
Another victim came forward stating that she was raped in September 2019. The victim in this incident stated she was intoxicated when Sims took advantage of her. Reports say following the rape, Sims stole her credit card and later made purchases with it.
The jury found Sims guilty on two of the four counts of rape. Sims could now face up to 28 years in prison.
Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said, “The women who came forward, in this case, showed an abundance of bravery. Sexual assault cases are very difficult and emotional.”
