Michael James Glendening was born August 27, 1940, to George Elmo and Doris Roberta (Wilder) Glendening in Tucson, Arizona.  He married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Wilber on June 5, 1961, and graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and the rank of Second Lieutenant in the US Army in July 1963.  This Vietnam veteran experienced the Tet Offensive and served 13 years on active duty.  He joined the US Army Reserved in 1976 and retired from military duty on August 27, 2000 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

     He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Eber Glendening.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, son Kent Forrest and daughter-in-law Jennifer Lynn Singer, son Neil Russell and daughter-in-law Beth Ann Webb, sister-in-law Lorna Savard Glendening, six grandchildren: Christine (Timothy) Young, Zachary (Brenda) Glendening, Joseph (Brooke) Glendening, Madison (Alex) Keefer, Matthew (Ashlie) Glendening, and Anne Glendening.  He enjoyed three great grandchildren, Raegan Elyce, Rush Ellis, and Eisele Caroline Glendening. 

     Michael was an active Mason, having served as Past Master in Fayette Lodge 107, Washington Courthouse, Ohio.  He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe, Ohio.  One of his most cherished memories was of baptism in the Jordan River during a trip to Israel with his church family.

     A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 in Grandview Cemetery with Pastor Jon Welch officiating.  A masonic service will be conducted at the graveside by Fayette County Masonic Lodge #107 F&AM.  Friends are welcome to attend.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
