ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Fire and EMS from Pike and Ross counties responded to a house fire in Bainbridge.

It happened in the 1400 blocks of Schmidt Road around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from a frantic resident who said that their outside air conditioning unit had caught fire and that it ignited the home and set the nearby woods ablaze.

According to fire crews on the scene, flames were showing upon arrival.

Firefighters battled the blaze, before eventually extinguishing it.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
