SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Three people were taken into custody after Scioto County Sheriff deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a man with a gun at a local hotel.
According to Sheriff David Thoroughman, on Monday, around 6 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the 3700 block of route 23, in Rosemount.
Reports say, deputies arrived on the scene and found two vehicles parked side by side.
Law enforcement officials said the driver of one of the vehicles was attempting to hide a small package in his hand. Deputies proceeded to pull the man out, later identified as Timothy Roster, 38, Portsmouth.
Sheriff Thouroughman said Royster then tried to reach back into the vehicle, attempting to grab something from the floorboard. Deputies forcefully removed Royster from the vehicle as he attempted to swallow the small package, the Sheriff said.
Additional deputies were dispatched to the scene to render assistance. Two female occupants according to reports, were also removed from the two cars.
Deputies searched the vehicles and found a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat where Royster was sitting, along with a black container that contained possible narcotics. Officials believe that Royster was attempting to reach for the gun when deputies extricated him from the vehicle.
Royster was charged with multiple felonies including drug possession, tampering with evidence, and having a weapon under disability.
The two female occupants were also taken into custody, the Sheriff said.
Arrested was Corey Weaver, 20, Portsmouth, and Breeanna Lambert, 23, Lucasville, for drug possession, and possession of drug abuse instruments.
