WILMINGTON, Ohio– The Scioto Valley remains in the grips of a dangerous heatwave.
The National Weather Service has placed the entire area under a Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. this evening.
According to NWS, the heat index is expected to reach nearly 104 degrees. Experts say with these high temperatures heat exhaustion, and heatstroke can happen quickly.
Residents are encouraged to minimize their time outdoors and take necessary precautions if they must be outside for any extended period of time.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration “recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location and to call 9-1-1.”
