JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — A double-fatal crash was reported in Jackson County, Friday evening. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle crash occurred at route 35 and Clary Road.
Troopers with the patrol said, Gary Hammond, 70, Jackson, was driving north to Clary Road when a Dodge Challenger driven by Gary Carrier, 43, Charleston, West Virginia, collided with Hammond’s pickup.
Reports say that both vehicles went off the right side of the road. Hammond’s passenger, Kathleen Hammond, 63, Jackson, was transported by EMS to Holzer Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. Hammond was airlifted to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, in critical condition.
Gary Carrier, troopers say, was also transported to Holzer Medical Center where he died from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Route 35 at Clary Road was shut down for several hours as troopers investigated the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no additional details were available.
