SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A Sciotoville couple is in jail for child endangering after the Sheriff says a child was exposed to drugs, horrible living conditions, and explosive devices.
Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said detectives, along with a multi-jurisdictional task force executed a search warrant at a residence on 5603 5th Street, in Sciotoville, on Friday.
According to reports, during the criminal investigation, it was discovered that a 10-year-old child had been staying in the home with his mother. Sheriff Thoroughman said the mother did not have custody of the child.
Detectives said the living conditions within the home were dangerous and could have caused “serious physical harm or death.” The child, reports say, was removed from the house and reunited with his father in Michigan.
Arrested at the scene were Louira Byrd, 40, and Blue Byrd, 39, both of Sciotoville, on felony child endangering charges. The couple is currently being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Sheriff David Thoroughman said, “This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges will be presented to the Scioto County grand jury.”
“These charges,” Thoroughman said, include: “aggravated arson, possession of a dangerous ordinance, possession of drugs, drug trafficking, and having a weapon under disability.”
