SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Multiple agencies used a helicopter this week to seize hundreds of marijuana plants.
The joint operation was comprised of personnel from five separate agencies: Portsmouth Police Department, Portsmouth Fire Department’s Tactical Medics, Southern Ohio Correctional Facilities SRT Team, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, and Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
“The success of the operation yesterday is directly attributed to our agencies working together to share intelligence, technology and manpower,” Sheriff David Thoroughman said. “When we work together, we can do much to improve our community.”
The Sheriff said they removed 459 marijuana plants from 10 separate locations throughout the county. Last year, nationwide, a total of 4,541,962 marijuana plants were eradicated and 3,193 weapons were removed from cannabis cultivators.
The Sheriff stated his office will continue to aggressively combat illegal drugs and crime by working as one team, not separate.
