CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man is in trouble with police after reports say he threatened a local judge during a court proceeding.

Chillicothe Police said James Seward, Chillicothe, was sentenced in court, Wednesday, to 180 days for a previous charge. At that point, reports say, Seward became belligerent and began cursing at the judge.

Court officers said Seward was screaming “I am going to tear up the jail.”

Seward was warned by Judge John Street for his conduct and possibly facing contempt of court charges. According to authorities, Seward then said, “Let’s go for prison. Wait till I get out, then I’ll kill the (expletive).”

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office has announced that charges for intimidating an official will be presented to the next session of the Ross County Grand Jury.

Sewards remains in the Ross County Jail where he is serving time for his original sentence.
