ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Bainbridge Fall Festival of Leaves officials announced that changes are coming to the event. Officials said this year’s festival will include around-the-clock monitoring.

In an online post, officials with the festival cited safety and security concerns as the reason behind the surveillance.

“Festival area is a targeted protection area, protected by 24-hour audio and video surveillance, as well as increased law enforcement patrols,” said officials with the festival board.

The Guardian spoke with Dusty Countryman, a member of the festival board about the added security.

“Like with many fairs and events in recent years, camera equipment and technology have become less expensive. The system is being put in place to stop theft, and vandalism especially after hours,” said Countryman.

The surveillance system is a vital component of this community function, according to the festival board. “This technology allows us to respond to accidents, health issues, and medical emergencies a lot faster.”

The Fall Festival of Leaves runs from October 15 to October 17.
