FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — Officials say four Fairfield County deputies were exposed to fentanyl.
Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office reports that one patrol unit and three members of the jail staff were exposed to the powerful narcotic around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
An inmate was being transported to jail when multiple individuals were exposed.
Sheriff Alex Lape stated that the cruiser and the booking area of the jail had to be decontaminated.
The four deputies were taken to Fairfield Medical Center, where they were later discharged, authorities said.
According to officials, the incident is still under investigation.
