NELSONVILLE, Ohio — An overwhelming presence of law enforcement officers converged upon the Southeast Regional Jail, Thursday afternoon.

According to Nelsonville city officials, law enforcement was called to the jail to stop what authorities are calling a “mass inmate disturbance.”

Officials said no public safety risks exist, and the disturbance was contained inside the facility. Representatives of the jail say the facility is currently being cleaned and under lockdown.

No further details were immediately released regarding the incident.
