CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A domestic violence call became a large drug bust, police say.
According to the Chillicothe Police, officers went to a home on Glencroft Avenue on reports of an active domestic violence situation.
Reports state that officers encountered a man, later identified as 31-year-old Scott Edler-Miller on the front porch. Miller told police that he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument and that she was leaving.
Police say they could hear the woman crying in the back room of the home. Miller told police that his girlfriend had been using “crack” all evening and he wanted her to leave.
Authorities said that the girlfriend eventually talked to officers where she stated that Miller had assaulted her, and made threats of killing her while holding a gun. The gun she said was a “9mm handgun” that was later found police say, in Miller’s pants. The gun, according to reports, was loaded with a bullet in the chamber.
Police arrested Miller at the scene on charges of domestic violence. Shortly after handcuffing Miller, the female victim told officers that she “needed to show them something.”
Officers followed the woman to the back bedroom of the residence, reports say. That is where she showed officers several trash bags full of marijuana.
Chillicothe Police officials said that a search warrant was requested for the house and a vehicle belonging to Miller.
After execution of the search warrant, police said they located nearly 10 pounds of marijuana, 500 cartridges of liquid THC, several boxes of ammunition, psychedelic mushrooms, several bags of Kratom (Kratom is a legal stimulant with opiate properties), an assault rifle, nearly $30,000 in cash, several electronics, and ledgers recording narcotics transactions.
Officials say Miller’s vehicles, including a 2008 GMC Sierra and a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle were seized by police. According to reports, officers believed the vehicles were purchased with funds gained from Miller’s illegal drug operation.
Miller was transported to the Ross County Jail and now faces additional felony charges including drug trafficking, possession, tampering with evidence, and using a firearm while being impaired.
