CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe municipal court officer called police Thursday to report that he had located a large amount of counterfeit money at an apartment where he was serving an eviction order.
Chillicothe Police responded to the East Water Street apartment where a box, police say, was found containing several counterfeit $1, $5, $10, $20, and $50 bills.
Upon further investigation, police also discovered blank counterfeit checks at the residence.
The tenants, according to reports, were not at the apartment at the time.
Police seized the counterfeit items and placed them into evidence.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
