ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Several people were hurt in a large bar fight.

Law enforcement in Ross County responded to a large bar fight at Backroad Pub in Massieville shortly before midnight, Friday

According to 9-1-1 dispatch, upwards of 20 people, law enforcement say, were involved in the violent incident. Deputies reported several people suffered injuries in the fight.

Deputies, along with troopers from the Highway Patrol responded in force after dispatch said one person was reportedly firing a gun during the altercation.

An eyewitness spoke to the Guardian and said that during the fight “two-or-three gunshots” rang out, and then, the gunman got into a pickup and tried to run over the victims.

“The owner asked the guy to leave as he seemed agitated and a little too drunk,” the witness who asked to remain anonymous said. “The guy busted a beer bottle across the owner’s face. A fight resulted as the guy kept attacking the owner. It ended up outside. The owner’s wife was trying to see what was going on after the guy got to his vehicle, and he started ramming the fence. Then, he ran into some vehicles and drove over the owner’s wife, throwing her into a concrete wall. She was seriously injured. At least two others were struck by the vehicle, too.”

EMS from multiple townships were called to the scene to render aide.

There were unconfirmed reports that some of the injuries sustained were gunshot victims. The Guardian was unable to independently confirm the claim. Authorities said the incident is currently under investigation.
