CHILLICOTHE, Ohio— A Chillicothe man is in jail after reportedly setting fire to a Central Center trash can on November 2.
Police, along with firefighters from the Chillicothe Fire Department, responded to Central Center after a 9-1-1 caller said there was a fire near the building.
Officers arrested a male suspect, identified as Brandon Garrison, 41, Chillicothe, at the scene for arson.
Authorities said Garrison was reportedly homeless and was staying in the front area of the old Big Bear building. When questioned at the Ross County Law Complex as to why he started the fire, Garrison said someone was harassing him, and he lit the fire to cause police to respond and help.
Investigators reportedly pressed Garrison for more details on what happened, but he would not offer additional information.
Brandon Garrison returns to court on November 11. He remains in the Ross County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
