PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Residents in parts of Pike County are sitting in the dark after a power outage hit the area.

According to American Electric Power, nearly 2,000 residents were in the dark Wednesday afternoon.

The power company reported that emergency crews were dispatched to the area. The exact cause of the outage was not immediately released.

American Electric Power estimated the restoration time to be around 4:00 p.m.
