CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Emergency personnel responded to Star Drive in Chillicothe on reports of a water rescue.
The call came in shortly before 11 a.m., Sunday morning.
According to the 9-1-1 caller, he saw two kids attempting to cross a creek who were swept away by the rushing waters.
Crews from multiple townships responded to assist in the rescue operations.
Shortly before noon, additional personnel, and an aerial drone, were requested to the scene.
Deputies with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office canvassed the nearby condominiums, reports say, searching for the possible parents of the missing juveniles. According to dispatch, deputies went door to door asking if anyone was missing two children.
Crews continued searching the creek for any sign of the missing children. As of 12:30 p.m., they had yet to be located, according to authorities.
At 1:30 p.m. Ross County Sheriff George Lavender announced that the search would be discontinued. “We have searched this area pretty extensively,” said Sheriff Lavender.
As of 6 p.m. on Sunday, no one had reported to the Sheriff that their kids were missing.
No further details were immediately released by officials.
