CHILLICOTHE, Ohio– The Chillicothe Parks & Recreation Department will once again be holding its annual holiday lights competition.
The annual event pits neighbor against neighbor for the best-decorated home in Chillicothe.
There are two categories in the competition, according to the parks department. In the first category, you find the traditional, nostalgic Norman Rockwell style. The second is the full-on Clark Griswold category, where residents are encouraged to display their festive spirit and be creative.
The first-place winner will receive a 5-day pass to the Chillicothe City Pool and a free shelter rental. A second-place winner will also receive a free shelter rental. Third place in the contest will receive a free five-day pass to the city pool.
According to city officials, the deadline for entries is December 1 at 4:30 p.m. Judging will be the following evening at 6:30 p.m.
To enter the competition, residents should send an email to [email protected] titled “Decorating Contest”. Entries should include the contestant’s name, address, phone number/ email, and category pick. Anyone with questions should contact the parks department at 740-772-5626.
