COLUMBUS, Ohio — This Thanksgiving holiday, 13 people died on Ohio roads, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. During the five-day reporting period, which began at midnight on Wednesday, November 24, and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 13 people were killed in ten fatal accidents.
A pedestrian, reports say, was one of the thirteen people who lost their lives over the holiday. Four others were not wearing seat belts, and three of the accidents involved impaired drivers.
Troopers say they busted 300 people for drunken driving and 147 for drug offenses. According to the patrol, 669 people were cited for not wearing their seat belts, and 106 individuals for driving while distracted. Officials say troopers assisted nearly 1,900 motorists during the time period.
