VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — Police were called to Vinton Green apartments in McArthur on November 24 to investigate a possible domestic dispute. The victim, according to reports, was waiting for Chief Heaton when he arrived. The victim claimed that her boyfriend Darion Blair assaulted her during an argument. The victim, police say, was injured and damage to the house was noted. Police canine Zara was sent to the wooded area near the apartments to search for Blair but was unsuccessful in locating him.
The Sheriff’s Office received a second call a short time later reporting that someone had broken into an apartment in the area. According to officials, officers returned and surrounded the residence.
Zara, Chief Heaton said, was deployed once again to search for the suspect. The suspect, officers said, was found hiding upstairs in the apartment. Officers were able to take Blair into custody without incident.
Darion Blair, 24, was taken to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail (SEORJ) on a felony parole violation warrant. The Prosecutor’s Office was notified, authorities say, and additional criminal charges may be forthcoming.
