CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A call to police about a reckless driver leads to a drug bust in Chillicothe.
According to reports, police on Sunday received a call regarding a possible reckless driver on Western Avenue. Police units spotted the vehicle, a blue Ford Ranger, parked on West Fourth Street near South Walnut. Officers approached the truck and spoke with the driver, Kelly Adams, 48. She said she was on her way to visit her mother-in-law.
Officers said that Adams was sweating profusely and was slurring her speech. A field sobriety test was initiated, reports say, and the driver failed. When asked if she had a license, Adams told police that she did not.
Adams was arrested at the scene for operating a vehicle while impaired after she confessed to taking a Xanax pill. Xanax comes from the benzodiazepine family and is used to treat anxiety and insomnia. Experts say the drug is extremely addictive.
After a search of the vehicle was completed, police, reports say, found several baggies of suspected fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and various pills.
During the search, cash, several EBT (food stamp cards), as well as Viagra, and a credit card were discovered.
Kelly Adams, according to the Chillicothe Police Department, could face several felony charges including drug trafficking, possession, and receiving stolen property.
