CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The local Democratic Party of Ross County held their annual holiday party Wednesday evening.
The event was held in Chillicothe and featured food and wine. Many local elected officials were in attendance. The event was also a toy drive for local organization Cheryl’s House — a non-partisan not-for-profit housing shelter for women recovering from addiction. The drive was a success, according to Democratic Club President Dona Meyer. The toys will be donated to kids who otherwise would not have a present this holiday season.
“It’s going to mean a lot of support for us, a lot of looking out for our women and children,” said Cheryl Beverly, the founder of Cheryl’s House.
During the event, local Democrats wishing to seek office circulated petitions, discussed policy and matters important to them, and socialized about the success of Congress’ passage of recent legislation.
“Tonight was a chance for the party and club to celebrate Christmas,” said party Chairman Tom Spetnagel. “We gathered together to enjoy each other’s company. We were excited that Cheryl and members of her organization were able to join us. We were happy to fill a void and need that her organization has in our community.”
The Democrats said they were energized for 2022.
