ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were air-lifted to Columbus following a serious crash in Ross County on Monday afternoon.
The crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle collision occurred along Route 50 in Ross County.
Reports say a 2020 Ford 350 driven by Jason Drake, 48, Londonderry, was traveling down Route 50 when a 2014 Hyundai Accent, driven by Elijah Hitchcock, 18, Tuscarawas, failed to yield while exiting a private driveway.
Troopers said the Ford struck the Hyundai in the side, causing it to veer off the road, and into a ditch. Elijah Hitchcock and his passenger, Gabrielle Hitchcock, 20, had to be cut from the wrecked vehicle. The driver, Elijah Hitchcock, and his passenger were air-lifted to Grant Medical Center in serious condition. The highway was closed for over an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash, troopers say, remains under investigation. No further details were immediately released.
