WILMINGTON, Ohio — Mother nature is ringing in the New Year with the potential for flooding and severe weather.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed parts of the Scioto Valley under the threat of severe weather Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, a potent storm system will move into our area this weekend, bringing heavy rain to portions of the Scioto Valley. Some locations along the Ohio River could see upwards of 3 inches of rain.
In addition to the risk of flooding, meteorologists are concerned about the potential for severe weather, including tornadoes. Conditions, according to NWS, remain favorable from southern Ohio to the Mississippi Valley for potential tornadic development.
