ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Deputies in Ross County responded to a shooting on Thursday, December 30. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the projectile fired did not come from a gun.
According to reports, 9-1-1 dispatch received a call from a resident in the 500 block of Lancaster Road who stated that someone had shot an arrow into their home.
Law enforcement responded to the scene and spoke with the caller, who showed deputies where the arrow had entered a window and then became lodged in an interior wall.
At the time of the report, the residents did not know who the individual was that fired the arrow but believed that it had come from the direction of neighboring property. Deputies went to that residence and spoke with the homeowner who stated that their son had been outside shooting his new crossbow.
Later in the evening, deputies returned to the residence and spoke with the individual who fired the crossbow. The individual told deputies that he had spoken with the homeowners and had agreed to pay for damages. No charges, officials say, were filed in the incident.
