PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Today, January 5, 2022, the Circleville Safety Forces Communications Center received a call reporting that two Rural King theft suspects were hiding in the Circleville Sheetz store. Unbeknownst to officers at the time, two male individuals stole a shopping cart filled with power tolls from Rural King, attempted to flee in a vehicle, collided with a good Samaritan vehicle attempting to stop them, and fled on foot across Route 23 to Sheetz.
Officers initially encountered the first suspect, 28-year-old Daymien L. Campbell, hiding in the Sheetz bathroom. He was positively identified and apprehended without incident by witnesses on the scene and surveillance video from Rural King. The second suspect description was distributed to Circleville Police Officers and Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. Officers observed the second suspect exiting Walmart a short time later. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended shortly afterward by CPD officers and PCSO Deputies in the back of the store. The security video images positively identified him as the second suspect. Both individuals were transported without incident to the Pickaway County Jail on felony theft charges. Rural King was notified of the recovery of the tools, and the vehicle was impounded.
