WILMINGTON, Ohio — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of southern Ohio. According to the NWS, heavy snow is expected Sunday.

Forecasters say snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible, with locally higher amounts as well.

Officials say that brief mixing with sleet or freezing rain will be possible Sunday before switching quickly over to all snow. Residents should expect road conditions to deteriorate throughout the day on Sunday.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says crews have been out on area highways pretreating the roads in anticipation of this upcoming winter weather event.
