CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Two people were arrested after police said multiple rounds were fired at a house on the city’s east side in Chillicothe.

Police in Chillicothe responded to the 600 block of Glencroft Avenue on Thursday after 9-1-1 dispatch received a call about the shooting. A witness, police say, was awakened to the sound of people arguing across the street from his home. It was at that time, he reported, that several gunshots rang out.

According to reports, officers found multiple bullet holes around the scene of the shooting. Following a brief investigation, along with witness statements, police located the suspects involved.

Joshua Thomas, 39, Chillicothe, and Autalee Corcoran, 25, were arrested early Friday morning and charged in connection with the shooting.

Police said they had previously encountered Thomas who had been stabbed at the Glencroft Avenue home.

Officials with the Chillicothe Police Department said K9 Rin was deployed in the area to search for evidence related to the incident. Additional witnesses to the shooting were able to point police in the general area where the suspects fled.

The dog found a 9mm handgun with what appeared to be blood on the weapon under a couch in the alley near the house. The blood, officers said, is believed to have come from Thomas who had a wound on his hand. DNA from Thomas was collected, reports read and was sent to BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigations), along with the weapon for comparison.

Both suspects are currently being held in the Ross County Jail pending arraignment.

Thomas, according to court records obtained by the Guardian, has a lengthy criminal history, including burglary, drug trafficking, and weapons charges.
