JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The case of a missing Ross County teen ended after a high speed chase in Jackson County.
On Friday, 15-year-old Angel Marlot was reported missing by her family in Ross County.
According to initial reports, Marlot was in the company of 33-year-old Anthony Ulfves who had told people that he was her boyfriend and the two were leaving state, family said.
Deputies from Ross and Pickaway Counties worked alongside troopers with the Highway Patrol to find the missing girl. Law enforcement was able to ping the child’s cell phone in an attempt to triangulate her location.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a tip submitted from Ross County to the Jackson County Sheriff led to the discovery of the girl in a moving car.
Deputies in Jackson County intercepted a vehicle that was believed to have the missing teen in it.
Reports say deputies were patrolling along route 35 when a maroon Jeep Liberty was spotted heading westbound. A BOLO (Been On The Lookout) was issued earlier in the day by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office for the vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle at the exit of route 35 and route 93 in Jackson County. That is when, officials say, Ulfves fled at a high rate of speed with the girl in the passenger seat.
The vehicle continued south on route 93 into the city of Jackson. Speeds in the chase, deputies said, reached nearly 70 miles per hour.
Ulfves eventually turned onto Clubhouse Road and followed it to a dead-end at the Apple City Motorcycle Club. Ulfves, according to law enforcement officials, rammed the gate at the club. That is when the suspect jumped out of the SUV and took off running.
The 15-year-old female was located inside the Jeep. She was uninjured and transported back to Ross County, the Sheriff said. The man was arrested a short time later on felony charges.
