CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A controversial new reality show based in Chillicothe has been pulled off the air after disturbing allegations.

“Adults Adopting Adults” was removed from network A&E’s schedule and all online episodes were removed after fans voiced concerns about Chillicothe local Danny Huff. The show follows a few couples looking to adopt other adults, with Huff and his wife, Christy, from Ross County, becoming breakout stars—but not in the way they expected.

The show follows the local couple as they plan to adopt a pregnant 20-year-old Austrian girl named Ileana, whom Huff met online in an adult adoption social media group. He previously tried to adopt an 18-year-old girl, but it didn’t work out because Huff developed feelings for the teen, the show details, and his wife called off the deal.

“And yet, with a big smile, he routinely professes his excitement about being a dad, and he performatively calls Ileana her daughter, while Christy looks on in abject misery… In the end, Ileana, I want you to stay right here because I like hugging you and you’re awfully sweet,” wrote The Daily Beast. Huff told the publication that allegations of misconduct against him are “absolutely false.”

Unable to air the fourth episode Monday night, the docuseries began in January. By Tuesday morning, the show had been removed from the network’s official website, and previous episodes had been removed from Apple TV and YouTube.

Critics flocked to social media, calling the show a form of incest, pedophilia, and outright sexual assault. They said it was apparent the man was grooming the woman to sleep with her.

“I never did anything inappropriate to her,” he said.

The network has not commented officially on why they pulled the series.
