COLUMBUS, Ohio— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today that he would direct the Ohio Department of Commerce to halt the sale and purchase of all vodka made by Russian Standard.
According to the Governor’s Office, Russian Standard is the only overseas, Russian-owned vodka distillery that makes sales within Ohio. The alcohol, officials say, is sold under the names Green Mark Vodka and Russian Standard Vodka.
Ohio’s Liquor Control says over 6,000 bottles of Russian-made vodka are being sold in Ohio. The Ohio Division of Liquor Control will direct retailers to pull the vodka from their shelves.
DeWine said that other brands of vodka are distilled outside of Russia and are not affected by the order.
