SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A West Portsmouth man is in jail following a shooting over the weekend.
Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said Sunday his deputies responded to a Straight Fork Road residence in West Portsmouth early Sunday morning.
Deputies, with medics, responded to the residence and found the victim, Rodney A. Queen, 57, suffering from a gunshot wound. Sheriff Thoroughman said Queen was flown by medical helicopter to Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, in critical condition.
Arrested was Terry A. Jewell, age 53. He was taken into custody and transported to the Scioto County Jail. Jewell faces several felony charges, including felonious assault. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office said the case remains under investigation. No further details have been released by law enforcement.
