CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The 27-year-old man who is accused of stabbing his own parents in Circleville has been declared incompetent to stand trial.
Henry J. Laux, 27, Columbus, was sent to a behavioral hospital this week.
In January, Laux was arrested after he reportedly stabbed his parents. His father — local chiropractor Dr. Jimmy Laux — and his mother, Teresa Laux were found stabbed after an argument in the middle of the night. The two victims were taken to Columbus area hospitals and survived.
Henry was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. Arrested less than an hour after the assaults, and initially pleading not guilty, the court ordered a mental health evaluation, which returned an opinion that Laux was mentally insane.
He will remain in the mental hospital until “his competency has been restored.” If doctors are successful in treating Laux he will be sent back to jail to stand trial.
