CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown will be back in Chillicothe to talk about his office’s efforts to save the Chillicothe V.A. facility.

According to the senator’s press team, Brown will meet with current employees of the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center to discuss their concerns regarding the recent federal assessment that recommended the closure of the medical center.

This will be the senator’s second trip to Ohio’s first capital in recent weeks.

Last Friday, Senator Brown met with veterans and advocacy groups.

“I have serious concerns that rural veterans in Southeast Ohio will have to travel great lengths to get care at VA. Veterans are scared. We are already hearing from so many Ohio veterans who are angry and worried about this. It is the beginning of a long process, and we will have many opportunities to weigh in,” said Brown. “We know that veterans want to get their care at VA and closing a rural VAMC would have a negative effect on veterans, their families, and VA employees.”

The roundtable meeting will be held at the Ross County American Legion Post 62 at 53 West Main Street, near downtown Chillicothe, at 4 p.m.
