CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department announced the sentencing of a man who was involved in the theft of nearly $80,000 worth of jewelry.
Warren Harless, of Columbus, will be spending the next 18 months in prison for his role in the breaking and entering of Mees Jewelry.
According to police, On October 20, 2018, officers were dispatched to Mees Jewelry at 1080 North Bridge Street in Chillicothe. Reports at the time said that officers found the business had been broken into and several expensive pieces of jewelry had been stolen.
Detectives in the case say that two pairs of shoes in a wooded area near Sam’s Club led investigators to one of the suspects. DNA was taken from one of the pairs of shoes matched to Harless.
Harless was also the suspect in a string of thefts across Franklin County. He was indicted for the breaking and entering of Mees Jewelry in March of 2019. Authorities say, Harless, at the time, pled not guilty and bonded out. After his initial court appearance, several other break-ins occurred that investigators have linked back to the Columbus man.
Last month, Harless pled no contest to breaking and entering as well as grand theft. The judge in his case sentenced him to 18 months in prison and a $6,000 restitution. The second individual involved in the theft has yet to be identified. Anyone with information on this case or the identity of the second suspect should contact Detectives with the Chillicothe Police Department.
