VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A manhunt is underway in Vinton County.
According to reports, a man with a gun is on the run after witnesses say he threatened to shoot his brother.
Deputies from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office with troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol responded to the 6000 block of Locker Plant Road.
Authorities say the man (later identified as Douglas Thompson) was hiding in a densely wooded area after leading deputies on a short pursuit. Thompson then fled on foot after abandoning his vehicle.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter in the area believed to be where Thompson was hiding. Around 8:30 p.m. the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office requested aviation support. An airplane from the Highway Patrol was used in the search.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. aviation spotted Thompson hiding behind his residence. He was taken into custody, officials say, without any further incident.
According to booking information, Thompson faces charges of obstruction, aggravated menacing, and failure to comply with a police officer.
