CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Detectives and federal agents are investigating a bank robbery in Chillicothe.
It happened Wednesday just before noon at the PNC bank on Bridge Street in Zane Plaza.
Law enforcement said a man walked into the bank and demanded money. It was not immediately released if the man had a weapon, used a note, or how it went down.
An eyewitness told the Guardian that the man was short, walked into the bank, quietly walked up to a teller, and that’s when the witness said she noticed workers locking doors and windows.
The man nonchalantly walked slowly out of the building, according to the witness. It was not immediately released if the man received any money.
The man is described as a short person, wearing a white shirt, with tattoos on his neck. He was wearing a black beanie and fled in a blue mini van, according to troopers. No suspects are in custody.
The bank was closed as law enforcement investigated the scene.
At around 12:30 p.m., officers became involved in a small pursuit off route 104 near Pleasant Valley Road. A man and a woman were fleeing officers in a green sedan. Detectives said the incident was not tied to the robbery.
After a short foot chase, both were apprehended. The man, Short said, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants. It was unknown why they ran.
