It happened near Lincoln Park in Chillicothe at around 8 p.m.
The camp was located along a hillside on the back of Grandview Cemetery at the end of Wall Street.
No injuries were reported, but when firefighters arrived they found the campsite fully engulfed. The man who called the area home made it out safely, as did a female friend who was visiting him.
Neighbors in the area said the man has been building an encampment in the area for several days.
Police asked the man questions, but so far, an exact cause of the blaze has not been publicly released.
