ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Circleville man is in custody today after law-enforcement officials say he was responsible for the shooting yesterday evening in Ross County.
The Guardian broke the story of a drive-by shooting in the 1600 block of Bush Mill Road near the village of Frankfort.
9-1-1 dispatcher’s received a call regarding the shooting shortly before 10 p.m Tuesday. Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the scene and made contact with the victim. Witnesses said a man driving a small black car opened fire on the Bush Mill Road residence.
Detectives as part of their investigation discovered that the shooter (later identified as Danny Hunley) was a resident of Circleville. Hunley was taken into custody by the Circleville Police Department.
Authorities say a search warrant was obtained for his residence, where members of the Ross-Fayette Joint Emergency Response Team located additional evidence.
Danny Hunley is currently being held in the Ross County Jail on charges of felonious assault, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm into a habitation.
The case remains under investigation.
